VIN: GPW265765
This is a 1945 Ford GPW DOD Dallas, Texas, USA, April 21st, 1945, then Crated for shipping and sent to California for delivery for the invasion of Japan.
Based on the records available, this vehicle has spent its life in California until being purchased by its previous owner who took possession of it in September 2021 and had it shipped to Indiana where it remained until acquisition by me
in March 2022.
Using period correct paint colours, stencils have been applied to depict a Jeep based in Libya 1943, of the USAAF 376th Bomb Group (Liberandos), 9th Airforce and 512th Bomb Squadron as in the 1943 Ivan Dmitri photos on
Condition
Given its 77 years life, the overall vehicles body and mechanicals are in exceptional condition, and I have carried out a comprehensive recommissioning, rather than a full restoration which, was simply not warranted.
This is real American Steel!
The vehicle comes with this history docs I have, all its original parts including Combat Wheels, Jerry Can, although many new parts have been used to replace those missing over its many years of use. A complete new interior set, new windshield glass and inner frame, all canvas straps, electrical switches, gauges, and body hardware have also been replaced.
Everything now works as it should after a good tune up, so it is mechanically sound and safe to drive off into the sunset.
Currently installed by a previous owner, is the more powerful, reliable/economical Chevrolet 153-cu-in IL4 "Super Thrift" engine with 90-HP and a single-barrel Holley carburettor are mounted to the stronger/later T-90 3-speed transmission providing a more reliable, as well as robust, solution for long-distance/daily driving.
Many New Parts
For practical purposes, several discreet additions have been made without damaging the body with new holes including… a battery cut-off, immobiliser switch, idiot lights for battery power and headlights, a removable 3rd brake light, a removable Digital Tachometer and a MPH/KPH GPS speedometer.
At some point in its long life the body had a heater fitted that some left holes in the passenger side bulkhead, so I’ve added a Voltage gauge, USB and 12v Power ports installed for electronic gadget use while you travel. Also comes with 2 x Magnetic Cup/Mug Holders, as you may need a drinks bottle, coffee, coke or, other kind of refreshments on your drives.
